Vintage Japanese Ceramic Suiban for Ikebana Flower Arrangement

This is a vintage ceramic Japanese flower vase, or suiban. The outside edges of this rectangular suiban are a rough-textured light brown color, while the inside features a smooth, rich dark brown glaze. It sits up on two bracket legs.
Suiban means “water tray” and typically houses the spiked weight (kenzan) that hold ikebana flower stems in place, but can also be used as a base for a flower pot, or even a potted bonsai.
