Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is beige and brown. the brown glaze makes a stripe pattern.  It has a shallow shape with a generously wide width for the summer tea ceremony. It allows the tea to cool slightly before drinking from the open air. 

Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.

• Good condition considering age. Discoloration on the unglazed part.  A chip on the rim. Imperfections on the foot. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
