Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is a golden light brown color with dark greenish spots on the inside and outside edge. It is purposefully not perfectly round to add a unique aesthetic to the tea ceremony. It has a shallow shape with a generously wide width made for summer tea ceremony. It allows the tea to cool slightly before drinking from the open air. 

Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
