Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is a light gray glaze with brown accents and a white leafy pattern on the front. This piece is in the nezumi shino style and is signed on the bottom. It is sturdy and easy to handle. This shape of this bowl is called hantsutsu-gata, which is a bowl that has a flat bottom and vertical sides in a half-cylindrical shape.

Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
