Vintage Iron Branding Stamp
This is a vintage cast iron branding stamp called yaki-in. This piece is meant to be placed over fire or coals and is used to mark wood, leather, fabrics, and most famously, Japanese sweets such as manju. It has the image of a large kanji character in hanko signature stamp style (kotobuki 壽). It means “Long life” and is often present on congratulatory/milestone gifts.
