Japanese Buddhist Costume Sash

This Japanese Buddhist costume surplice (wagesa or hangesa) is worn around the neck. It is muted red with golden crests and has a red cord. There is a floral kamon (crest) at the back of the neck and 2 kamon on both sides close to the neck part. This particular sash is called kataginu and can be worn when appearing in front of the Buddha, and during services and ceremonies.
