Japanese Buddhist Costume Sash

This Japanese Buddhist costume surplice (wagesa or hangesa) is worn around the neck. It is red with two gold stripes on each side and has a purple cord. There is a floral kamon (crest) on both sides close to the neck part. This particular sash is called kataginu and can be worn when appearing in front of the Buddha, and during services and ceremonies.
