This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist bronze incense burner (koro) commonly used in Buddhist altars. It is small with a dark brown color, perfect for smaller home altars. It stands on three short legs. It is used for burning incense powder or sticks. Burning incense is a means of purifying the body of the worshiper.
