Japanese Bronze Incense Burner
This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist bronze incense burner (koro) commonly used in Buddhist altars. It is a dark brown with an etched lotus design on the front side in gold. It stands on three short legs. It is used for burning incense powder or sticks. Burning incense is a means of purifying the body of the worshiper.
