Vintage Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Lacquer Offering Table　

This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist altar offering table (uwajoku). It is coated with gold, orange, and black lacquer and made with a combinations of wood (main body) and resin pieces (legs and base). The front side is all gold with small chrysanthemums. It comes with a removable and reversible top panel, one side being black, the other red. In the case of memorial services and decoration, a piece of cloth called uchishiki is inserted here.
There are two types of offering tables Maejoku and Uwajoku. Maejoku is placed in front of the Shumidan. It is used for 3 Gusoku (candle stand, flower vase, and incense burner). Uwajoku is placed in front of Amidanyorai. It is used for a flower vase, a rice cup, and a kasha incense burner.

• Good condition considering age. Light scratches throughout. Gold paint cracking very slightly around legs. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos.
