Japanese Rice Offering Cup Buddhist Altar Fitting Butsugu
This is a Japanese rice offering cup, Buppanki, made for use in a Buddhist altar. This cup is simple, small, and made of brass. The rice offered to Buddhist altars is called “Buppan”. In the Jodo Shinshu Otani sect, we use the term “Obuku”. This cup has a crane on the front which is commonly associated with the Nichiren Shoshu sect of Buddhism.
