Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Orin Bell 

This is a vintage Japanese orin bell for Buddhist altars. It contains a brass bowl with a simple wooden striker. It rests on a platform-type pillow made of red fabric and gold embroidery. The bowl itself has a dense design on the outside that features leaves, vines, and guardian spirits. The inside of the bowl has a raised leaf design. Singing bowls are sounded during ritual prayer. 
Orin bell sound can reach the Buddha in the Pure Land. It is also used to ward off people’s evil spirits and convey prayers to the Buddha, ancestors, and the deceased through sound.
