Japanese Brass Incense Burner, Koro
This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist brass incense burner (koro) commonly used in Buddhist altars. It is a small pot made of aged, browned brass with decorative vertical-facing side pieces and a loose-fitting caged lid. It is used for burning incense powder, chips, or sticks. Burning incense is a means of purifying the body of the worshiper.
