Vintage Japanese Resin Abalone Shell Drink Saucers

This is a five-piece set of vintage Japanese resin plastic drink saucers/coasters, or chataku. The main feature of this set is the striking abalone shell pieces that decorate the center. Set in a mosaic pattern, the shell pieces are set in light ceramic or putty clay and dried into place. The set stacks neatly.
