Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Three-Fold Icon
This Japanese vintage paper three-fold icon represents Chigo Daishi, the Buddhist monk Kobo Daishi (Kukai) as a boy. Kobo Daishi is the founder of the Shingon school of Buddhism in Japan. The icon also have text on the right and a sutra on the left. This item is an icon displayed in Japanese Buddhist home altars, Butsudan. It is a powerful religious image, aimed to be at the center of an altar.
