Masks

Japanese masks are used traditionally in theater, festivals or rituals and are connected to folk myths and tails. These masks represent people, creatures, devil, ghosts, and animals. There are many traditional masks such as Gigaku, Bugaku, Gyodo, Tengu, Noh, Kyogen, Kitsune, Oni and Kabuki. The colorful and detail of these unique masks make them ideal for being displayed on walls in the home or office. 

Japanese masks are normally handmade out of materials such as clay, dry lacquer, cloth, paper, and wood. The beautiful detail and craftsmanship really shows the history of the arts in Japan. The oldest existing mask is the gigaku mask.
