These materials are packed tightly into \u003cem\u003ekashigata\u003c\/em\u003e molds and dried to create beautiful designs and shapes. Many of these sweets can be found in wagashi shops and grocery stores still today.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis two-panel kashigata mold is carved with the design of Momotaro, a famous story character. Momotaro was born from a peach, then once grown, he and a host of animal friends travel to an island called Onigashima where they fight oni (ogres\/demons).
