These materials are packed tightly into \u003cem\u003ekashigata\u003c\/em\u003e molds and dried to create beautiful designs and shapes. Many of these sweets can be found in wagashi shops and grocery stores still today.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis two-panel kashigata mold is carved with the design of two small drums (\u003cem\u003etaiko\u003c\/em\u003e) with a spiral mon symbol. The drums are actually toys made for children. One holds the stick attached at the bottom between two hands and spins it. Small strings with beads hit the small drum heads to make noise.
