This letter box has the classic black and gold style with beautiful maki-e floral designs on the sides of the lid and of the box. The lid is adorned with a four-petal gold flower on the top. The front of the lid is decorated with metal embellishments. Ofumibako is one of the Buddhist altar items used to store letters written by Rennyo Shonin of the Hongwanji Temple.
