Cherry blossoms and the tradition of Hanami.
Each spring in Japan, the arrival of cherry blossoms transforms parks, gardens, and riverbanks.
The tradition, known as Hanami or “flower viewing,” brings people together beneath the blooming sakura trees to share simple meals and admire the delicate blossoms.
These moments are more than seasonal festivities; they embody a deeply-rooted appreciation for nature and the fleeting beauty of the season.
From tea and sake vessels to bento boxes and lanterns, these traditional objects have long played a role in such gatherings. Crafted with care and often decorated with floral motifs, they carry the tranquil atmosphere of spring celebrations.
We have selected several sakura-inspired pieces that evoke the spirit of Hanami for you to enjoy here today.
Through March 31, please enjoy 30% off sitewide.

The deep connection between Japanese culture and nature is expressed through a long tradition of woodcraft and woodworking.
With 70% of Japan covered in forests, wood is revered not merely as a resource but as a living entity. The grain, scent, and warmth of an item created from wood are appreciated as quiet traces of the tree they once were, reflecting a desire to work with nature rather than against it. Over time, artisans have developed highly specialized woodcraft skills, passing down tools, techniques, and regional styles from generation to generation.
At Chidori Vintage, we seek out objects that embody the connection between nature and craft, curated in our Wooden Items collection and across other specific categories. We have selected several examples, each with its own unique story, ready to add an authentic presence to your home or Japanese collectibles.
Through February 28, please enjoy 35% savings sitewide.

Traditional Japanese artwork reflects a deep connection to nature and spiritual thought. Its aesthetic is shaped by simplicity, careful line work, and, at times, vivid color.
From the Heian through the Edo periods, artists embraced concepts such as wabi-sabi, the appreciation of imperfection and impermanence, and yūgen, a sense of subtlety and grace that often reveals itself gradually rather than at first glance.
Over time, a remarkable range of styles and media emerged, from Ukiyo-e woodblock prints and Shikishi boards to later works using acrylics and pastels.
Vintage Japanese artworks bring a quiet sense of harmony and refinement to any space. We have selected several works from our Arts & Decoration > Paintings & Prints collection that reflect the enduring spirit of these traditions.
Until February 28, please enjoy 35% savings sitewide.

Japanese tea culture is steeped in grace, contemplation, and a deep appreciation for form and texture—most beautifully expressed in the Japanese Tea Ceremony.
At the heart of this tradition is the Matcha Chawan, or green tea bowl, handcrafted to prepare and enjoy matcha, finely ground green tea.
Each chawan reflects centuries of artistry and the spirit of wabi-sabi, inviting you to slow down, hold warmth in your hands, and experience the calming ritual of preparing tea.
Distinct styles of chawan embody their own character and atmosphere: Raku, hand-shaped with a soft glaze and an intimate feel; Hagi, pale glaze with crackle; Oribe, green glaze and bold shapes; and Karatsu, iron brushwork and a quiet tone.
We’ve handpicked a selection from our Green Tea Bowls collection, highlighting some of these attributes, perfect for daily use, thoughtful gifting, or to add to your collection.
Please visit our website at chidorivintage.com and enjoy our February sale, with 30% off all orders.

Ikebana, also known as kadō or the “way of flowers,” is a centuries-old Japanese art of flower arrangement that celebrates harmony, balance, and nature’s quiet beauty.
Each composition thoughtfully combines branches, leaves, and flowers in a chosen vessel—capturing both structure and the fleeting moment of the season.
In winter, bare branches reveal grace, evergreens convey strength, and early blooms hint at renewal, expressing kadō through nature’s changing forms.
The container used in Ikebana is never merely functional; it is an integral part of the design, turning each arrangement into a fragment of nature brought indoors.
Ikebana vases come in many forms, varying in size, shape, and material, and we have selected several pieces that reflect some of these unique styles.
