Antique Japanese Pottery Sake Bottle Tokkuri
The ceramic sake bottle (Kayoi-Tokkuri) became popular as a rental container for liquor stores in the Edo period when sake began to be consumed on a daily basis. Sake shipped from the brewery is sent to each liquor store through the wholesaler, and each person goes to buy it with this sake bottle. The name of the liquor store that rented the item, the name of the place, the trademark, etc. are written on the body. Hand-written Kanji letters: Kajikawa sake shop, Company logo, Number 500. There is a plug hole.
