Vintage Japanese Wooden Storage Box 

Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are also widely used for a plethora of other traditional Japanese crafts, including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc, and even food. 

This lidded wooden box is made for storing small plates called meimeizara. The inside is separated into 2 compartments. The lid sits on the top and features some inscriptions. It is made from strong wood and is excellent for general storage, DIY, or decoration.
