Japanese Porcelain Teacup Yunomi for Sencha

This is a vintage Japanese porcelain yunomi teacup. It is a western-style cup with a small handle on one side and has a vibrant sometsuke blue and white image of geisha in kimono carrying parasols in a garden outside a temple. There is a subtle shochikubai (pine, bamboo, plum blossoms) border along the top edge.
This cup is called yunomi, made for serving and drinking sencha (standard loose-leaf tea). It is typically brought to guests in one’s home, a business, or a restaurant on a lacquered obon tray.
