Vtg Japanese Buddhist Prayer Beads Juzu w/ Wooden Box

This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist prayer rosary bracelet, Juzu. It is made of ebony beads as well as two gemstones beads. The whole chain is held together by a black string braided at the base of the main bead. This bracelet comes with the original box.

Japanese Buddhist rosary bracelets (Juzu or Nenju) are used for daily religious practices as well as at funerals and other Buddhist ceremonies. When using a rosary, hold it in your left hand. When you pray, put your hands together and place the prayer beads between your index finger and thumb. If the rosary is long, hold it in two rows. (How to hold varies by denomination).
