Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku W/ Wooden Box

This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features an illustration of small sparrow birds on tree branches with red flowers and fruits. This piece is titled as Teien Yashu meaning a garden rustic, and signed with a name and red seals. It is stored in a wooden box which says Kacho no Zu meaning a flower and bird picture.  

Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
