Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Kobo Daishi Icon

This is a Japanese vintage fabric and paper hanging scroll (Owakigake) representing Kukai, also known as Kobo Daishi, founder of the Shingon school of Buddhism. It is an icon displayed in Japanese Buddhist home altars, Butsudan. It is a powerful religious image, aimed to be at the center of an altar. This Owakigake is gold and dark blue with red accents. It is embellished with metal parts on the bottom.
