Vintage Japanese Fabric Doll Figurine

This is a vintage Chirimen-Zaiku silk fabric doll in the shape of a turtle (kame). It is made of black, pink, and beige silk fabric with gold and silver accents throughout. 
Chirimen-Zaiku is a traditional handicraft with a history dating back to the Edo period. Dolls, decorations, and accessories are formed from cloth with a textured surface woven with twisted fibers known as yori. Chirimen products are often made from kimono fabric waste.
