Vintage Japanese Mortuary Tablet Ihai 

This is a vintage Japanese mortuary tablet Ihai. A mortuary tablet is a place the spirit of a deceased person is enshrined. This type of Ihai (with a double door) is called Miyabi. It is black with gold paint and gold color metal embellishments. A mortuary tablet (Kai de Ihai) can hold several deceased people in one place (names written on wood plates). This particular mortuary tablet is empty and does not contain any wood plates.
