The front contains intricate brass boarder embellishments. The main feature is a pair of painted makie dancing Shishi lions on a gold and black flecked background.
In Japan, the Buddhist altar is a place to enshrine the principal image that is the center of faith, and is a sacred place to hold memorial services for ancestors as a “small temple in the home”.
