Vintage Japanese Incense Burner Koro for Buddhist Altar Butsudan
This item is a vintage small iron incense burner (Koro) made for use as an altar fitting in a Japanese Buddhist altar. Painted a gold color, this type of burner is used for burning incense powder or sticks. The incense burner symbolizes purifying the body of the worshiper. It’s decorated with Shisa (lion dog). Shisa is a statue known in Okinawa as a talisman and guardian spirit.
