Japanese Lacquered Lidded Fumibako Box
This is a Japanese lacquered wooden letter box (ofumibako). It is traditionally used to store letters, small books, important documents, paper, and other stationary items.
It can also be used for Buddhist altar prayer books, prayer beads, charms, and for incense storage. This smooth, rich reddish-brown box with a clear lacquer varnish is a beautiful decorative and functional addition to any home or office space. It features a gold, copper, and green colored makie design of yamabuki flowers (yellow rose).
