Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku W/ Box
This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features a picture of Mount Fuji with trees in the foreground. The original artwork is called 霊峰富士図 "picture of sacred Mount Fuji". This piece is signed with a name and a red seal. It is stored in a box.
Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
